Announcing a new book from Allison Gilbert

a new book from allison gilbert

My next book is a simple, easy-to-use guide for discovering fun, creative, and inspiring ways to remember those we love and miss most.

It will be an upbeat and imaginative handbook full of ideas for celebrating the family and friends we never want to forget. Most books about loss are about sadness and grieving. The book I’m writing is about happiness and remembering. I tried to find a book like this. It doesn’t exist. Now, I’m writing it. Readers often point to the challenge of keeping the memory of their loved ones alive. They’re frustrated. They don’t know what to do. I want to pass along what I’ve learned.

I divide the strategies into three core sections.

One portion explores the use of technology. The ideas presented here can be incorporated into your regular, digital life, including some amazing apps I’ve come across that I just have to share!

Another chapter focuses on everyday opportunities.  In this section, I highlight the proactive steps you can take on birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays.  I may love this section the most because I also focus on those critical times that can’t be pegged to a particular date or season.  As many of you know, the need to reflect often hits unexpectedly, and we need ideas for those moments, too.

The third section delves into the innovative ways to repurpose virtually anything that belonged to your loved one. You’ll find inspiration for photographs, jewelry, clothing, letters, marriage and driver’s licenses, passports, and recipes – nearly any inherited item or memento.
